While walking along the exhibition, the visitor will have a chance to see unique pieces, like the 1910 Hispano Suiza 30/40 HP, a car that has all its original parts and which was the first car ever in Spain, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest; or the replicas of two of the very earliest cars that roamed the world: the Benz Tricycle (1885) and the Bonet (1899). The museum has 150 vehicles in permanent exhibition, as well as thousands of pieces, accessories and objects pertaining to the fascinating world of cars that come from important Spanish collections.

Among which is most noteworthy the original one, that of the Gómez Planche family and the National Collection of the Spanish General Directorate for Traffic. Other private individuals, institutions and patrons have also contributed to the collection, making of this a space that joins tradition and modernity, a place that won’t leave anyone cold.

PIEZAS ÚNICAS

Its main purpose is to show the evolution of the design of self-mobile machines, from the earliest attempts to mechanisation in the 1st century BC to the present and, in some cases, towards the future, thanks to the exhibition of some prototypes. A total of 4.500 m in three storeys house these vehicles which have a key place in the history of motor cars, belonging to prestigious brands such as Rolls Royce, Hispano Suiza, Pegaso, Jaguar, BMW, Cadillac, MG and Mercedes-Benz, and other More popular and well-known, such as Ford, Buick, Citroën, SEAT and Fiat. For those into motorbikes, the MHAS has also a few samples of the best known motorcycle brands, like Bultaco, Honda, Lube, Derbi, Ducati, BMW, Montesa and Norton. Other pieces of special interest are two automobiles that were used by two heads of the Spanish state: a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 and a 560 SEL Mercedes – Benz. And the last car used by Nobel Prize Camilo José Cela. Some of the highlights in terms of competitive cars are an Amilcar from the 1920s and the Formula 1 car driven by Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet Junior and Romain Grosjean during the 2009 season.
