New Cathedral

Work started on the largest church in the city in 1513, and it was finished in 1733. The building shows several architectural styles, from late Gothic and Baroque to Renaissance.

Old Cathedral

Its origin can be traced back to the 12th and 13th centuries, and it was dedicated to St María de la Sede. The church is attached to the New Cathedral, which was built leaning on the former one. Inside, there is a magnificent altarpiece by the Delli brothers.

Civil War National Historic Archive

State centre belonging to the Historical Memory Documentary Centre, which collects documents related to the Spanish Civil War.

Casa Lis, Art Nouveau and Art Déco Museum

A Modernist building that houses a collection of decorative art objects from this artistic period.

Calixto and Melibea's orchard

This garden, located by the southern city wall and beside the Cathedrals, seems to have been the place where the main characters met in Fernando Rojas's novel, "La Celestina".

Church of Santiago del Arrabal

This Romanesque temple is located on the banks of River Tormes, and its origin can be traced back to the 12th century, although its present aspect is due to a restoration carried out in mid-20th century.

MHAS (Salamanca Motor Museum)

This Museum has one of the most important and valuable vehicle collections in Spain.

Roman bridge

Traditional icon of the city, it also is part of the Roman Silver Way (Via de la Plata). Some arches from those times still remain.

Verraco

A zoomorphic granite sculpture, of Vetton origin, which was made famous by the cocky character in the Lazarillo de Tormes novel.

Riverside walk

This path is part of a longer riverside walk that goes along the River Tormes banks. Some of the most famous and representative views of Salamanca can be seen from here.

WALKING   OR CYCLING
From the Museum's main door, the visitors can enjoy one of the best views of the city, including the Cathedral of Salamanca and the façade of Casa Lis. Just one minute away, we can find the Historical Memory Documentary Centre and its exhibitions - always with free admission - and the Casa Lis Art Nouveau and Art Déco Museum, with which we share a joint ticket. A bit further on are the Salamanca's two Cathedrals (The New one and the Old one) and the Ieronimus exhibition. If we keep on walking, we'll get to the historical area, with the Plaza mayor square.

Thanks to its location on the banks of River Tormes, the visitor can enjoy a delightful walk or cycle by the river, by the cycle path that goes along the riverside walk, including the Enrique Estevan bridge and the famous Roman bridge. On its ends we can find monuments such as the verraco-bull and two churches: the Santiago del Arrabal Mudejar style church, and the new Arrabal church. All along this walk you'll be able to enjoy the most beautiful panoramic views of this World Heritage City.
